(striped and sweet)

Discovered by the Caudle family in a Dryden,Washington orchard in 1987.  Thought to be a cross between Red Delicious and Golden Delicious. 'Now among the top ten most grown apples in Washington' (Cameo Marketing Association) 

Large Dessert. Conical, irregular, ribby, five crowned.  A solid heavy feel.

Attractive and striking appearance, base yellow green with flecks and speckles of orange red and short, broken, uneven stripes of deep crimson. Prominent large lenticels.

Cavity deep, not wide, small amount of russet.  Stripes do not go right into the cavity.

Stalk robust, above cavity, can be straight, slightly to one side or completely to one side.

Basin mediul depth, not wide

Sepals convergent then reflexed, downy

Flesh yellow white, crisp and juicy, pleasant acceptable taste, hint of pear? Can I taste Red Delicious? Skin fairly tough.  When ripe flesh red under the skin.

Tube wide cone, then funnel, stamens basal., core axile
