From the Island of Fyn, Denmark in about 1910. Cox’s Orange Pippin x. Also known as ‘Continental Cox’, there is also a ‘Red Ingrid Marie’.
Round to flat round, flattened base and apex, regular.
Flushed dark red when ripe, more scarlet red earlier, some indistinct red stripes. Very noticeable lenticels, white or pale russet dots. Specks and patches of russet on surface.
Cavity deep and wide, brown russet extends from cavity over shoulder
Stalk above cavity, not too thin.
Basin shallow and wide, when ripe colour goes into basin
Eye large, fully or part open.
Flesh green white, crisp and juicy
Not a Cox flavour but quite pleasant.
